Discount Guardian collects limited information necessary to monitor discount profitability and protect your margins.

Merchant Data

• Your Shopify store domain
• Selected subscription plan
• Margin floor, payment fee, and shipping cost settings you configure in the App
• Product catalog data synced from your store (titles and SKUs)
• Cost of goods (COGS) and per-product shipping costs you enter or import
• Discount performance summaries and margin alerts generated by the App
• Shopify staff session data required for authentication (which may include staff name and email as provided by Shopify)

Order Data (Financial Metrics Only)

• Shopify order identifiers
• Discount codes and discount amounts applied to orders
• Order revenue, product costs, shipping costs, payment fees, and calculated net profit
• Order processing dates

We do not collect customer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, payment card details, or any other personally identifiable information from your store’s buyers. Order records contain financial metrics linked to Shopify order IDs only, not to individual customers.

We use the information we collect solely to provide and improve our discount profitability monitoring service:

• Merchant store information is used to authenticate your account, manage your subscription, and apply your margin and fee settings
• Product and COGS data is used to calculate true profit on discounted orders
• Order data is used to track discount performance, identify unprofitable codes, and generate margin alerts in your dashboard
• Aggregate discount performance data helps you decide which promotions to keep, adjust, or retire

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use order or customer-related data for any purpose other than providing discount margin analysis to you as the merchant.

All data is stored securely on servers hosted by Railway, a trusted cloud infrastructure provider, with databases managed through PostgreSQL. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication through Shopify’s OAuth system
• Access controls to protect your data
• Shopify session data stored securely and managed according to Shopify’s security requirements

While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain merchant account data for as long as the App remains installed on your Shopify store. When you uninstall Discount Guardian:

• Your session data is immediately removed
• All associated shop data — including products, COGS, orders, discount performance records, and alerts — is permanently deleted when we receive Shopify’s shop/redact compliance webhook, typically within 48 hours of uninstallation

When Shopify sends a customers/redact request for a specific buyer, we delete any order records matching the referenced Shopify order IDs. Since we do not store buyer personally identifiable information, no additional customer data exists to retain or remove beyond those order records.

Discount Guardian is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Shopify’s mandatory privacy requirements. We respond to all Shopify compliance webhooks:

• customers/data_request — customer data access requests
• customers/redact — customer data redaction requests
• shop/redact — shop data deletion requests

Because Discount Guardian does not store buyer names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable customer information, there is typically no personal customer data to export on a data request. Order records contain financial metrics only. For merchants in the European Economic Area, Middle East, or other regions with data protection regulations, our data minimization approach ensures compliance by collecting only what is necessary for the service to function.

Discount Guardian integrates with a limited set of services required to operate the App:

• Shopify — all store, product, and order data is accessed through Shopify’s APIs under your authorization
• We use Shopify’s Billing API to process subscription payments — we never directly access or store your payment information
• All payment processing is handled securely by Shopify
• We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or external marketing tools that would have access to merchant or customer data

The primary data flow is between your Shopify store, our secure servers, and back to your Discount Guardian admin dashboard.

Discount Guardian does not operate on your storefront and does not use cookies to track your customers. The App runs entirely within the Shopify admin. Standard Shopify session management applies when you use the Discount Guardian dashboard, as governed by Shopify’s own privacy policy. This privacy policy page does not use cookies or tracking scripts.

Discount Guardian is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The App is designed for use by Shopify merchants and their staff. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.

Merchants have the right to access, update, or delete their data at any time:

• Update margin settings, payment fees, and shipping defaults directly through the Discount Guardian dashboard
• Edit product COGS and shipping costs at any time, including via CSV import
• Change your subscription plan through the App’s billing settings
• Delete all your data by uninstalling the App from your Shopify store — all associated data will be permanently removed within 48 hours

Continued use of Discount Guardian after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
